Feed the Coastal Bend: Troop 87 food drive. Drop-off Saturday, October 17, 10 a.m. to noon at the Coastal Bend Food Bank, 5442 Bear Lane. Sunset over Corpus Christi Bay with a bridge, pelicans and a crate of canned food.

It’s Scouting for Food week (October 10–17)! Every year, scouts across the South Texas Council collect food and donate it to local food pantries as one of our biggest Good Turns of the holiday season. Here’s what families need to know.

Drop-off: Saturday, October 17

  • Where: Coastal Bend Food Bank, 5442 Bear Lane, Corpus Christi, TX 78405
  • When: 10:00 a.m. to noon
  • Service hours: Scouts who need service hours can help unload donations at the food bank.

Collecting food

Scouts can collect canned and packaged food from neighbors, friends and family. Door hangers for canvassing are available from the council office. To request them, contact James Rangel at James.Rangel@scouting.org with the date you’ll pick them up, your unit, your contact information, and the areas you plan to canvass.

Dropping off at a local pantry instead?

That counts too! Just email the amount you delivered to James.Rangel@scouting.org so it’s included in the council total. Each item counts as one pound.

Questions about Troop 87’s collection plans? Ask a troop leader at Monday’s meeting.
