About Troop 87
Who We Are
A scout-led troop serving Corpus Christi families for more than 40 years.
Our Troop
Troop 87 is chartered by the Rotary Club of Southside Corpus Christi and housed at Community of Faith Baptist Church, 6606 Weber Rd, Corpus Christi, TX 78413.
We meet every Monday night from 7:00 to 8:30 PM, except when Monday falls on a holiday. We have trained and experienced adult leaders and focus our efforts on outdoor activities and community service. We go camping at least once a month, and we encourage our scouts to advance through the ranks while letting them set their own pace.
In more than four decades, Troop 87 has nurtured the growth of hundreds of young people — including more than 85 Eagle Scouts. We’re always accepting new members, so tell a friend about us!
How Troop 87 Fits Into Scouting
The Council
Troop 87 belongs to the South Texas Council, in the Gulf Breeze District. The Council maintains camps like Camp Karankawa on Lake Corpus Christi and runs activities, training and administration.
Our Chartered Organization
Every troop has a chartered organization that shares Scouting’s goals. Ours is the Rotary Club of Southside Corpus Christi. A Chartered Organization Representative is the liaison between the troop and the club.
The Troop Committee
Parents and adult volunteers make up the Troop Committee, which oversees troop funds, special events, outings, leadership training and troop equipment.
